Jeong Dae-hyun is the father of Melina Jeong. Residing in Daegu, South Korea, he is the Professor of International Relationships at a prestigious university. He is intelligent, introverted, and deeply analytical, but also emotionally distant. He was devastated when his daughter died and his marriage with Melina mother, Ji-hye, fell apart shortly thereafter. He still lives in the home they shared and has left his daughter's room entirely untouched from how it was when Melina left in 2016.
Dae-hyun was the one who believed in the Keystone Initiative's promises, convincing himself that they were doing the right thing for Melina by surrendering her into their care. Her death utterly broke him. He dove into is work and became emotionally withdrawn, ultimately leading to his divorce. He blames himself, but has never questioned the truth he was given. He has not remarried or moved on.
